The Pittsburgh I/T Staffing LIst originated in 1996 when I moved from Los Angeles back to Pennsylvania. My chosen destination, for personal reasons, was Pittsburgh. Without business contacts in the area it was hard to get get a foot in the door so I turned to staffing companies. The List came about when I found it difficult to locate information technology staffing firms in the area. The problem wasn't a lack of firms; the problem was finding them.

The Consulting List appeared a few years later when several independent consultants wanted to be listed as well. Over time the site continued to grow with additional resources to help information technology professionals find work in the area.

I don't ask for money to be listed and I don't ask for money to use the site. You will never see advertising on this site either. I maintain the site because so many people have thanked me over the years, by e-mail and in person. Surprisingly enough I've actually overheard a couple conversations recommending the site to others.

All lists are alphabetical because I do not endorse or promote specific companies or web sites. I have worked for some of these companies so I do have first-hand experience working for staffing firms. From time to time I am also a hiring manager and generally prefer working with a staffing firm for short- or medium-term needs.
